The long song heritage of Torguts in Khovd province have two main forms. The long song heritage of Torguts from Khovog Sair has preserved the earlier form of long song development, yet they sing their songs in the same way, which might cause the end of their long song heritage if continued further. The long song heritage of other group of Torguts preserves the form of early medieval period of long song development, keeping ‘suman’ (average-scale) long song of Khalkhas in terms of the melody-‘egshig tomolt’ (lit. ‘vowel twisting’ – usage of different vowels in tone shifting) and singing proficiency.
