ŐŐLD LONG SONG

The ritual and symbolism of Őőld long song is closer to those of Durvut and Uriankhai. It's interesting that the structure of Őőld long song melody reflects vaguely the timbre, mood and phonation-'egshig tomolt' (lit. 'vowel twisting' - usage of different vowels in tone shifting) of Bayad long song. However, the Őőld long song has more advanced tradition of singing proficiency, reaching a similar singing skills and techniques to that of Torguts residing along the Bulgan River basin. They have opened a wide opportunity to use melismas such as 'vowel twisting', vocal adornments and 'shurankhai' (An octave leap to reach the highest pitch in falsetto), while having developed their very own and unique 'dan (singular) shurankhai'.
